••• Artist's Bio

Carolyne Topdjian immigrated to Canada at a young age.  She graduated with a BFA (Visual Arts) from York University and MA (Interdisciplinary Gender Studies) from the University of Warwick.  Since then, Topdjian has pursued a simultaneous study of art theory and practice while working for highly reputed non-profit art organizations such as The Ottawa Art Gallery and The School of Toronto Dance Theatre.

Her artwork consists of life-size figurative paintings which border on the surreal as they manifest fragile moments and mutations of the bodily self.  Topdjian’s paintings have been exhibited in select Canadian galleries and may be found in many private collections, nationally and abroad.

When not painting, the artist spends her time researching the body in visual culture and completing her doctorate in Social and Political Thought at York University.  Topdjian lives and works in Toronto, Canada.
